Graveyard Keeper 2 Money Guide: What Sells and What Sinks
Graveyard Keeper 2’s economy has a twist the first game didn’t: vendor deflation. Prices drop as you flood a market, so the classic “farm one resource and dump it” strategy actively loses silver. Here is how to earn steadily instead — starting with the single best early income source, Burial Certificates.
Burial Certificates: the reliable early income
Process corpses into Burial Certificates and sell them to the Tavern Keeper for guaranteed silver. Certificates come from the corpse work you are already doing, they are a processed good rather than a raw resource, and they do not trigger the same price collapse as bulk raw materials. For most players this is the first income line worth standardizing.
How vendor deflation works
- Selling more pushes the price down. Each additional unit of the same raw resource earns less — the market remembers.
- Raw goods suffer most. Ore, wood, and crops sold raw are the classic deflation trap; process them first and the price holds up better.
- Spread your sales. Rotate what you sell between vendors and days instead of dumping a week’s harvest on one buyer.
Alchemy as an income line
Alchemy products are processed goods with real value. Umami sells for 11 silver 25 bronze at the Alchemist (level 3 reputation) on a cheap ingredient chain of flour, hops, and alcohol; potions and organ improvers sell as well and feed your own progression meanwhile. Check the rune finder to make the lab produce efficiently instead of guessing.
Orders: selling with intent
The sequel adds structured order systems — trader orders and looter orders — that pay for specific goods. Treat them as the anti-deflation tool: filling a named order sells at the order’s price rather than crashing the open market. Prioritize orders that ask for things your farm already produces.
What not to do
- Do not bulk-sell raw resources. This is the deflation trap, and it permanently softens prices you may want later.
- Do not skip processing. Silver dishes sell for far more than their ingredients — the kitchen plus Umami is a multiplier, not a chore.
- Do not rely on mercenaries for income. Their wages scale with inflation (see the battles guide) — they cost more the longer you lean on them.
